Openings
We have multiple openings for Ph. D. candidates and postdoctoral researchers.
Project 1, aims to create self-dividing synthetic cells. We will use chemical reactions to divide lipid-based synthetic cells. See paper nr. 92 under publications for preliminary data. The overarching goal is to provide reliable methods of self-division in our efforts to synthetic life. A background in chemistry, biophysics, or synthetic biology is preferred. Researchers excited to pursue a Ph.D. or Postdoc in a vibrant, multicultural, and interdisciplinary environment are encouraged to apply. Please mention ERC001 in your application.
Project 2, aims to enable Darwinian evolution in non-living systems. We will use DNA and RNA-based replication cycles to start evolution in a non-biological context. A background in biochemistry, especially with a focus on DNA nanotechnology or synthetic biology, is preferred. Researchers excited to pursue a Ph.D. or Postdoc in a vibrant, multicultural, and interdisciplinary environment are encouraged to apply. Please mention ERC002 in your application.
For open applications as a postdoctoral researcher:
Please enclose a letter of motivation that stresses why you chose to apply to our group for your application. Please send a summary of the research during your Ph.D. along with your CV. We will not read applications without these.
For open application as a doctoral researcher:
Please write a letter of motivation for your application that stresses why you chose to apply for our group. Please send a summary of your MSc thesis along with your CV. We will not read applications without these.
For BSc. and MSc. students:
Please apply via email and a letter of motivation expressing your interest in our team. Clearly state your previous experience and what (techniques) you would like to learn from a stay in our labs. Research topics vary drastically and can be tailored to your interest.
